The importance of solidarity and economic development in the regions becomes clear when times are tough. Granby Industrial, located in the city of the same name, is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship as well as regional industrial and economic development. Thanks to the organization, dozens of businesses enjoy constant support, numerous jobs are being created, and sustainable projects are being established, year after year. Without question, it is truly an organization that is having a positive impact on its community!
Granby Industrial’s Entrepreneuriat Haute-Yamaska was created after the local development centre was shut down. Its goal is to promote the emergence of various entrepreneurial projects throughout the territory of the Haute-Yamaska Regional County Municipality (RCM). Having personally used their services as a young entrepreneur, I can confirm that this type of organization makes the difference when launching a business. In addition to offering customized support, it provides assistance in exploring financing options, sets up acceleration cohorts, and delivers all types of training.
I spoke with Andréanne Daigle, business advisor at Entrepreneuriat Haute-Yamaska, and she explained to me how much the human aspect is emphasized within the organization to better create links among individuals. For her, it is when a relationship is developed with the “human” behind the entrepreneur that the greatest impact can be achieved.
In addition to its commitment to economic development, Granby Industrial recently obtained ECOresponsible certification for sustainable development. What does this imply? It means taking actions that promote a greener environment and encourage other companies in the region to do the same. Granby Industrial trains and supports companies in the region that want to join the certification program through annual cohorts called “eco-leaders.” Through various grants, it also encourages companies to champion the principle of a circular economy. For example, a recent project supported by the Brome-Missisquoi MRC promotes industrial synergy by bringing together industrial companies to create an even broader network of collaboration. It is helping to reduce company waste while also benefiting the economy. One company is getting richer through its “losses” (waste) while the other is buying its inputs at a lower price. A way of thinking that benefits all parties!
Granby Industrial is also creating many jobs in the region. In forging special ties with various industries and companies, the organization observed that there was a severe manpower shortage and decided to act. With the “Granby Profitez” portal, the team allows companies to post their job offers for free on a user-friendly platform. Granby Industrial also participates in numerous job fairs, both regionally and internationally, to connect companies with a workforce specific to their needs.
So future entrepreneurs: Granby is definitely the place to set up shop and start your ambitious entrepreneurial projects. You are your only limit. Over to you to make an impact!
